Vivienne Compton - Centre Director

Vivienne has over 20 years commercial experience working in both the private and public sectors. She holds an honours degree in Business Studies and is completing a Masters degree in Leadership and Management related to education. Prior to joining the Centre Vivienne was business development manager for a college of further education in the Midlands. In 1992 Vivienne was awarded the Rotary International Edward Pzeck ambassador award for the Promotion of International Understanding following a six week visit to a newly liberated Poland. She has attended trade missions to America and organised national and international conferences aimed primarily at the radio and telecommunications industry.

For the past 6 years she has worked in the education and training sector successfully developing new non-core funded income streams and stronger links between education and industry. She has managed and delivered European (ESF and KEF) and LSC funded projects such as the National Carpet Industry Training Academy Feasibility Study.

Working in collaboration with the University of Wales, Newport in 2003, Vivienne was responsible for the first Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) being awarded and funded by the DTI to a college in Wales. She is a school governor and lives locally.

Michelle Jones - Administration Manager

Michelle has been with Ty’r Morwydd for seventeen years and is responsible for Finance and Administration. She is born and bred in Abergavenny, and went to school in this building many years ago when it was originally a convent!

Ceri Cadwallader - Education Manager

Ceri gained a BSc (Hons.) in Ecology and Environmental Management at Cardiff University. Previous experience has included a student placement for a year at Juniper Hall Field Studies Council field centre, membership of a BTCV group in Cardiff, and work at country parks in Kent and Devon.

Stephen Tyrrell - Tutor in Geography and Ecology

Stephen gained a BSc (Hons.) in Physical Geography from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, which he followed with an MSc in Environmental Monitoring and Analysis. His main interest was Glaciology, which gave him the opportunity to travel to the Alps for his dissertation fieldwork. Previous work experience includes a season at an outdoor activity centre, teaching on University field trips and working as a seasonal warden for Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
